I'm an adrenaline and new culture junkie. I have been a tom boy my whole life and I felt like I needed to do something totally out of my comfort zone to change things up. One night while watching Miss Universe with my daughter I thought to my self, "I've never done a pageant before how crazy would that be? It would be a total makeover, learning, and self improving experience." At the time I was primarily a stay at home mom of 2 young children who barely had the time to comb my hair in the morning or do any thing nice for my self. My main interactions were with the children, and cartoons for the past 9 years. I needed something to challenge my self and build up my confidence. I did a little research and and called the director of Mrs United States and asked if I could represent Puerto Rico, she said "Yes"!

The time preparing for the pageant was a physical and mental challenge with daily workouts, new eating habits, combing over questions, preparing for interviews and learning how to become more "feminine". It was cool to learn more about my self through the questions and how I really felt and believed about different subjects, and affirm what is important to me. Through the process I meet with some amazing women who guided me to be more confident and how to carry my self. I got to meet the most creative fashion designers in Puerto Rico and wear their creations proudly. I built up the confidence to host a creative workshop for girls and women to encourage them to live out their dreams, and became more involved in Surf Rider and other organizations that are important to me.

The Pageant week in Las Vegas was a rush. I met and became friends with so many amazing loveing talented women who were beautiful inside and out. It was inspiring to be surrounded by these accomplished women of all walks of life. Some were doctors and lawyers, successful business women, pro pageant queens, others were like me, tomboy house moms looking for an adventure.
The week was full of dance and stage rehearsals, interviews, appearances, photo shoots, buffets, gift exchanges, and lots of hair, makeup, and HEELS, ouch! The show was Glamorous and so fun to be apart of. It was an adrenaline rush to actually perform on a Las Vegas stage! It was a dream come true. I was very proud to represent Puerto Rico and rolled my 'R' as I announced myself "Shannon McIntyre Mrs. Puerrrrto Rrrricooo!!!" the audiance went wild, I had a lot of family and friends who came to cheer me on and share in the experience. First was the dance number then the, the "red dress introductions" next the bathing suit comp, and final the evening gown. I think I did really well for my first pageant ever, I did'nt make the top 10 out of 52 contestants, but I had the best time. It was a once in a life time experience and I cherish the memories and I grew alot from it. I think in life we need to continue to do new things that challenge us and an get us out of our comfort zone, thats when the magic of life happens!

Shannon McIntyre has been proud to call the beautiful Caribbean island of Puerto Rico her home since 2003, and is honored to represent "La Isla del Encanto" (The Island of Enchantment) in the Mrs. United States Pageant this July, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Shannon is a Mother of two, a Professional Surfer, accomplished Artist, TV Host & Creator of "On Surfari, a Travel Series that aired on FuelTV for 7 seasons, and currently airs on NatGeo TV Worldwide.

Shannon believes in using ones gifts and talents to bless others. From donating her artwork to support various Humanitarian efforts, to teaching surfing & art as therapy to bring joy & inspire creativity in Youth. She enjoys speaking at Schools, Churches, and at Womens Inspirational Creative Workshops inspiring people that everyone has God given unique talents and purpose in life.

EEUU Desfile este julio, 2012 en Las Vegas, Nevada. Shannon es una Madre de dos, un Surfista Profesional, Artista consumado, Anfitrión de televisión & Creador de "En Surfari, una Serie de Viaje que ventiló en FuelTV para 7 temporadas, y actualmente aires en la televisión de NatGeo Mundial. Junto con su Marido, Shayne, de 15 años, y de dos niños, Shannon es puesto a comenzar disparando su nueva serie de Viaje, Aventura Familiar, para la Red de Halógeno en temprano 2012.

Shannon cree a utilizar regalos de unos y talentos para bendecir otros. De donar su trabajo artístico apoyar varios esfuerzos Humanitarios, a enseñar el surf & el arte como terapia para traer alegría & inspira la creatividad en la Juventud.
